Blue Herbals Inc., parent company of The Blue Tea Company, began under the inspiration of John Reyes as a response to the Columbine massacre in 1999. John Reyes, on annual pilgrimage with his tribe in the Mexican valley, inherited an ancient recipe from an elder during his stay. This sacred recipe, passed through the generations, originated from Mayan heritage. The ingredients were said to pacify the often hostile Mayan warriors after battle as a solution to increasing levels of domestic violence within their civilization. In fact, one of the ingredients, palo azul, a “blue-ish” tree bark, can only be found in the jungles of Southern Mexico and South America.
Blue Herbals Inc. is marketing and slowly growing into a partnership of consumers who are not only concerned with natural ingredients, but also concerned for our future and the escalating cases of violence. Our staple product, Blue Tea©, is a natural blend of organic flowers (lavender, malva, cyanus, and palo azul) which is designed to meet these needs.
Blue Herbals Inc. currently sells to small markets and individual establishments nationally. In 2002 and 2003, 25,000 boxes of Blue Tea© sold in test markets in Southern California and North Carolina. Total first year production (2008) is forecasted to be approximately 525,000 boxes of tea. Our expansion will start in the Western United States (Southern California, South Dakota, and Seattle, WA) and will move eastward (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kansas, Alabama, and Pennsylvania) in 2009 and early 2010. The future for Blue Tea© is to penetrate a broader arena of large-chain supermarkets, hotels, and eventual foreign markets.
Our product will improve health and encourage adults and youth to find alternatives to aggression. Blue Herbals Inc., determines Blue Tea© to be an outlet for aggression and anger; this is achieved with soothing Blue Tranquility. Our product will attract new and old tea drinkers alike, and become a strong competitor in the independent beverage market.
